Nice
Bienvenue to Nice, the sun-drenched city on the French Riviera that’s well worth a city hop or longer break. Fly to Nice straight from Southampton airport and you’ve got the whole of the Cote d’Azur at your feet in less than three and a half hours. That’s a whole lot of Mediterranean to explore.
From the posh hotels that line its front to its harbour and old town, Nice is easy to get around. It’s notable shopping and art scene is even easier when you know that the trams are inexpensive and simple to negotiate, as are the local trains if you want to go further afield and don’t fancy hiring a car.
Join the jet set and explore the Musee Chagall, the newly restored opera and the Colline du Chateau. Go rollerblading around the Baies des Anges and find the cliff walk.
When something new beckons, Nice is helpfully placed to offer up the whole Riviera. Take a daytrip out to beautiful Eze, set sail for the Ile Sainte Marguerite or venture over the border into Italy, past the municipality of Monaco.

When you’re through customs, it’s easy to pick up a hire car from the car rental desks. Pick up a taxi, motorbike (yes, really) or find a bus.
Nice isn’t a jet set destination for nothing – you can also get around by helicopter.
