Majorca
Bienvenida to Palma de Mallorca, the sunshine city and capital of the Balearics. Palma lies southwest of the island, and at just shy of 2 and a half hours from Southampton airport, it is a great destination for a city break in winter, just as it is for a longer summer holiday with practically guaranteed sun-baking in store.
Hip, cosmopolitan and buzzing, the Palma of today is world’s apart from the All Day English breakfasts, foam parties and high rises of Magaluf and beyond. It’s here you can really rock the Kasbah, with an old town built in Moorish times; it’s packed with trendy bars and brilliant dining. Pair that with beautiful beaches, beautiful people, art and architecture and it’s a heady island mix.
Wander the Arab Quarter and up and coming Santa Catalina, take in the Paseo Maritimo and marvel at the Cathedral that dominates the city’s skyline day and night.
There’s plenty to see outside the city walls, too. From stunning canyons and castles to the impossibly scenic railway discover the new Palma - it’s the perfect mix of old and new.
