Southampton Airport has achieved a 'Very Good' rating in the UK Civil Aviation Authority's latest Airport Accessibility Report, improving on last year's 'Good' assessment and securing the regulator's highest accessibility classification.
The CAA today (Tuesday 4 August) published its annual Airport Accessibility Report, which assesses the quality of assistance services provided to disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility across the UK's largest airports. The report covers the period from April 2025 to March 2026.
Southampton Airport was among a number of UK airports to improve its rating this year, with the CAA highlighting stronger representation and engagement through the airport's Accessibility Forum.
The regulator noted that the forum helped drive accessibility improvements including enhancements to disability awareness training and increased equipment provision.
The report comes against a backdrop of growing demand for assistance services across UK aviation, with a record 5.99 million passengers requesting support at airports during 2025.
Maurice Boyle, Operations Director at Southampton Airport, said: "We are delighted to have achieved a 'Very Good' rating from the Civil Aviation Authority, reflecting the dedication and commitment of our colleagues who work hard every day to support passengers requiring assistance."
"Delivering an accessible and inclusive journey is a key priority for Southampton Airport and this recognition demonstrates the progress we have made over the past year."
"We have worked closely with members of our Accessibility Forum and disability organisations to better understand the needs of our passengers and ensure their feedback helps shape the services we provide. We are grateful for their continued support and engagement."
"As demand for assistance services continues to grow across the aviation sector, we remain committed to investing in our facilities, training and support services to ensure every passenger can travel with confidence through Southampton Airport."
Southampton Airport actively seeks feedback from passengers requiring assistance and works closely with its Accessibility Forum to ensure services remain responsive to passenger needs and expectations.
