27 October 2025 Loganair, the UK’s leading regional airline, is celebrating the launch of its new route connecting Southampton and Manchester, marking the first phase of its investment in a new base at Southampton Airport.
The route, which began operation on 26 October, is part of Loganair’s broader strategy to enhance regional connectivity across the south of England. The airline’s new base will formally open in March 2026.
Luke Lovegrove, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: “This launch is a major step forward for Loganair in the South of England.
“As we grow our presence in Southampton, we look forward to building on this service with additional fast, affordable travel options which will benefit the region and its economy.”
Gavin Williams, managing director at Southampton Airport, said: “The launch of Loganair’s Southampton to Manchester service is a proud moment for our airport and the wider region. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in our partnership with Loganair, following their strategic decision to establish a base here.
“The return of the Manchester route, previously used by over 200,000 passengers annually, is a clear response to regional demand and a vital step in strengthening economic ties between two dynamic cities. With Loganair’s extensive airline interline agreements, this route also opens up global connectivity for our passengers, making the world more accessible from their local airport.
"As we look ahead to the full base opening in March 2026, we’re excited to support Loganair’s growth and deliver even more opportunities for our community, businesses, and travellers.”
Passengers can enjoy competitive fares from £72 one-way, along with Loganair’s signature services including generous luggage allowance of 15kg hold luggage and 6kg cabin baggage, family-friendly policies, and award-winning customer service.

Earlier this year, Loganair was ranked second in the Which? annual customer survey of short-haul airlines, achieving a 72% customer score. The airline received a five-star rating for customer service and a four-star rating for booking, boarding, and cleanliness.
More recently, Loganair was named the most punctual for UK arrivals and departures in Q2 2025 by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, with 86% of its flights arriving and departing on time.
Those booking directly through Loganair’s website can also collect Avios through its Loganair Loyalty scheme thanks to the airline’s partnership with the global travel rewards programme.
Flights can be booked at www.loganair.co.uk or via local travel agents.
