Lifeline flights to Channel Islands maintained at Southampton Airport

Lifeline flights to Channel Islands maintained at Southampton Airport

Following the increased restrictions on movement put in place by the Government this week in order to control the spread of Covid-19, Southampton Airport will be maintaining daily lifeline flights to the Channel Islands throughout this restricted period.

Operations will be reduced to this lifeline schedule only – one lunchtime flight a day to Jersey and Guernsey with Blue Islands and Aurigny, providing a vital link to residents of the Channel Islands. The airfield will also be prepared to handle potential medical flights.

Managing Director Neil Garwood said: “These are unprecedented times for us all, and airlines have reacted accordingly and rightly to temporarily suspend their schedules.

“We will be scaling down our operations to critical flights only but will remain operational during this restricted period in order to maintain that vital lifeline link to the Channel Islands and, where necessary, facilitate medical flights.

“Whilst it is a very difficult time for us all, we are doing all we can to put the airport into a strong position to respond just as soon as the pandemic threat has passed, restrictions are lifted and demand returns.  We are also progressing our plans for our future, including extending our runway, which is now more important than ever to maintain vital UK connectivity.”

Any passengers booked to fly to or from Southampton Airport in the coming weeks will be contacted direct by their airline.  Passengers with any questions regarding their flights and any associated travel arrangements should contact their airline.
