On this tab, Southampton Airport will provide updates and timescales for the runway construction. When we have new information regarding the construction, we will publish it below.
Neighbour Engagement Event
On 1st March 2023, Southampton Airport held a Neighbour Engagement Event with residents living in close proximity to the northern end of our runway. This event provided near-neighbours with further information on the construction of our runway extension. You can find the banners displayed at this event here. The materials offer an overview of the approved runway scheme and set out key details about the construction, including what you can expect to see on site, the timescales, and site working hours.
SOU Runway App
To keep local neighbours up-to-date on the progress of the runway construction project, the airport has developed an app called SOU Runway. The app provides residents with an overview of the project, as well as updates on the works and any changes on site.
The app allows site neighbours to send a query or raise a complaint with the airport’s principal contractor, Volker FitzPatrick. The team will then be able to review this in real-time and provide an answer or consider how to address the concern.
