Southampton Airport has received a special award at the Solent Business Awards for its Outstanding Contribution to Hampshire over the past 25 years.
The awards ceremony was attended by over 200 business leaders and was hosted by Lord Digby Jones.
On presenting the award, Malcolm Hyde, CBI South East, stated “Our winner, Southampton Airport, is a business which can trace its beginnings to 1910 and has grown ever since, which through the ripple effect of operations, provides employment far beyond its own footprint. It is an integral part of the vibrancy and economic success of Hampshire and the UK, adding over £100m to the local economy and providing the gateway for businesses to compete at home and across the world.”
Dave Lees, Managing Director of Southampton Airport said “It is a great honour to receive this award and it recognises the growth and part which the airport has played over the last 25 years. This airport is famous for its high levels of customer service and this is a reflection on the great team work that takes place amongst the 30 different companies and over 1000 people that work here.”
Dave celebrated the award with Southampton Airport staff and a big chocolate cake.
