Bowman Ales was founded in 2006 by Ray Page and Martin Roberts and is situated amongst the rolling green hills of the South Downs National Park. Using water from their own borehole and using only the finest ingredients from local and national sources, they produce a range of both traditional and innovative beers.
Each month, the Southampton Airport Priority Lounge will feature a different ale which will be available for passengers to enjoy. To kick off the partnership, the ale of the month for October is ‘Wallops Wood’. Winner of the ‘Hampshire Beer of the Year’ Award for 2011, this ale has a taste that leans more towards the malt than the hops and has a light and pleasant aroma. Other ales that will feature over the months include Quiver, Meon Valley and their flagship beer, Swift One.
The Southampton Airport Priority Lounge is available to all traveling out of the airport and can be found on the top floor of the Departure Lounge. The lounge can be pre booked online for £17.50 which includes complimentary food, drink and Wi-Fi, whilst you wait for your flight. Passengers are also welcome to arrive at the lounge and pay at the door or can use the new self-service booking kiosk located by Security in the main concourse.
Retail Manager at Southampton Airport, Andy Dent, said “We are delighted to be able to introduce even more local produce into our Priority Lounge. It is very important to us that as a local airport, we support truly local produce. We hope to see people heading up to our lounge to try out this fantastic ale!”
Martin from Bowman Ales says “As I was born and bred in Southampton, it’s wonderful to be associated with the airport and to have our beers on offer to passengers in the Priority Lounge. What a fantastic showcase for what we consider to be the finest beer in Hampshire and I wish every success for this great local initiative”.
