Southampton Airport helps young windsock collector fulfil his dream

Joshua Garton had his dream come true when he was invited to Southampton Airport to help change the windsock.

The 20-year old has a lifelong passion for airport windsocks and has an impressive collection of around 50 of them. He contacted the airport to ask if he could have an old windsock; little did he expect to be invited to change one himself!

Dan Townsend, Head of Aerodrome Operations, said: “We were really delighted to help Joshua fulfil his dream and change the windsock at our airport.

“We are huge supporters of anyone with an interest in anything aviation related, and his interest in windsocks is definitely unique.”

Joshua keeps his collection in his bedroom and shed, with a few of them proudly flying in his garden.
