The airport is working in partnership with local Eastleigh-based bar The Chalet to offer passengers cheese and charcuterie from the region, and – for the grown ups only – a little taste of that old Alpine life-saver Schnapps and toffee vodka, the current toast of the slopes.
Passengers and visitors also stand a chance of winning an apres ski-style supper for two at The Chalet, plus a bottle of wine, by having their photo taken behind a very special almost life-sized cable car picture frame on display in the terminal, and posting a cheeky image to social media.
Airport managing director Neil Garwood said: “Southampton Airport is a true gateway to the slopes, and we are looking forward greatly to welcoming back ski flights to Geneva and Chambéry with easyJet and Flybe this winter.
“With the kids back at school, now is a great time to get that ski holiday booked. There are dozens of brilliant ski resorts just a short drive from both Geneva and Chambéry.
“When you add the fact that you can breeze through Southampton Airport in a matter of minutes, you really can tumble out of bed and be on the slopes within just a few hours; that is what makes flying from your local airport so special.
“We are delighted to be able to support local businesses and very grateful to the team from The Chalet for providing a taste of Alpine life for our passengers to enjoy.”
