Willkommen to the magic of Dusseldorf Christmas markets

During Advent, Düsseldorf is an exciting mix of seven Christmas markets and shopping delights with over 200 decorated huts which form part of different theme worlds across the city. Make sure you visit every single market as each one of them has something different to offer.

Handwerker Markt. Situated in the Old Town, this market features the huts inspired by the Renaissance architecture of the City Hall. When you finish gazing in awe at the incredible artwork of artisan candle-makers, wood-turners and glassblowers, make sure you take a ride on the 100 year-old carousel restored to perfect working order.

Dusseldorf Christmas Market

Altstadt Markt. Meet there with your friends for a cup of mulled wine, surrounded by huts modelled on Dusseldorf’s old burgher house. Or add to your wardrobe by visiting young designers in various historic buildings dotted around the district.

Sternchen Markt. With crystals that break the light into thousands of colours and sparkling stars, the “Sternchenmarkt” (“Little Star Market”) at the Stadtbrückchen is idyllically located in the courtyard of the Wilhelm-Marx-Haus. It is filled with snow-covered huts selling food, mulled wine and home furnishing.

Engelchen Markt. Here you can find the famous sandstone façade of the luxury department store, Carsch-Haus. In order to make the atmosphere even more ethereal, the huts there are inspired by the square’s Art Nouveau music pavilion and are decorated with stunning floral images and wrought-iron angels.

Marchen Markt. Visit this market for a fairy-tale experience this Christmas, where old German myths come true, basking in the warm glowing lights of 15,000 LED lights, creating a magical world for all ages!

Ko-Bogen Markt. This is the market that has undergone a lot of changes in the recent times, making it more modern than the others. If you fancy listening to Christmas songs or even want to join one of the choirs performing, this market is your place to be.

Schadow Markt. For shopaholics out there, this market is definitely one big mall not to miss. With 150 stores dotted around, you will find virtually anything there to fit your budget, so make sure you bring a suitcase big enough to fit everything in! Or you can always purchase one more bag at the market, as a matter of necessity.
