Arriving passengers

Where to go

Once in the terminal, follow the signs for arrivals. If you arrived on an international flight, you’ll need to clear passport control and Customs. Baggage reclaim is between the two.

If you’ve used our Shop & Collect service you’ll pick up your shopping from our roaming Airport Ambassadors in the passenger-only area of arrivals, shortly before you exit to the main concourse.

Passport control

At the passport booth a Border Force officer will ask to see your passport. You will also need any supporting documentation necessary for your visit. Also, please remember that your passport must not expire during your visit to the United Kingdom. For full details on entry requirements into the United Kingdom, please visit the Border Force Agency website.

Baggage reclaim

You’ll find plenty of baggage trolleys available for your use in the reclaim hall. There may be baggage from more than one flight on the carousel, so please be patient and try not to block access for others.

Customs

If your flight started in the EU, use the blue exit (unless you have items to declare). Otherwise, use the red (goods to declare) or green (nothing to declare) channel. If you're unsure, go to the Customs enquiry point.

Refreshments

If you need to relax (or revive yourself) after your journey, you’ll find food, drink and a place to sit down at Mitchell's Bar & Kitchen on the main concourse, near the exit from Customs.

Essentials

In the main airport concourse there is a branch of WHSmith, where you can stock up on essentials for your onward journey.

Travel money

Currency is available from the Moneycorp bureau de change (you can order your currency in advance for airport pick-up or home delivery).

Meeting place

There is no official meeting point but if you’re waiting for a flight there are plenty of seats in the main airport concourse close to the arrivals hall exit.

Help point

There is a help point with up-to-date travel information. A phone point is available for flight information or other queries. Alternatively look out for one of our team of friendly Airport Ambassadors dressed in lime green shirts who are happy to help.

Getting on your way

Access to the terminal forecourt

Buses to Southampton, shuttle buses to the long stay car park and taxis have access to the terminal forecourt, outside the main exit. If you want to book a taxi, please order it first at the taxi desk in the main concourse.

Hiring a car

Car hire companies are located in the dedicated car rental building, across the road from the terminal. For details of rental companies at the airport and to book, visit our car hire page.

Railway station

The railway station is a short walk from the terminal. Turn left at the main exit and you’re just 60 seconds from your rail connection.

For help in planning your onward journey, visit our Transport and directions pages. You can find out some of the top things to do in Hampshire and the local attractions on our Visit Hampshire pages.

Special assistance

If you’ll need help while you’re at the airport, visit our special assistance information pages.

There is a special assistance desk in the check-in area, next to the airline desks.
