Meeting at the airport

There is no official meeting point but if you’re waiting for a flight there are plenty of seats in the main airport concourse close to the arrivals hall exit. All passengers must be dropped-off and collected in a special area within the short stay car park, located adjacent to the airport and forecourt area. The area is on the ground floor, just 60 seconds walk from the terminal building. The first 10 minutes of parking will be provided free of charge. Security approved vehicles will be permitted access to the forecourt, such as public buses, emergency services and other organisations.

Post facilities

There is a post box outside the terminal, across the road from the bus stops. Stamps are available from the WHSmith store inside the terminal.

Rest and relaxation

Need to take the weight off your feet? There's plenty of seating throughout the terminal, before and after security. If you want to watch the aircraft, you'll find a viewing area on the upper level of the departure lounge, looking out over the runway.

Security control and boarding

To reach the departure lounge you will pass through security control. Your boarding card will be inspected and you will be screened, along with your hand baggage. For further information, visit our security control page.

Passengers pass through an archway metal detector. The detector is safe for pregnant women, but if you have any concerns you can request a hand search. Passengers with pacemakers should request a hand search, and wheelchair users will also have a hand search. Hand searches can take place in a private, screened area for the comfort of our passengers.

Some passengers and/or flights may be selected for additional searches at security control or at the departure gate; including hand searches supported by explosives trace detection equipment. Passengers are chosen at random for these searches – please don't be concerned or offended. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us ensure the safety and security of all passengers.
