Connecting at Southampton

Here's your essential guide to transferring between flights at Southampton Airport. Southampton Airport provides a breeze through experience with short walking distances and minimal queue times.

We do our best to ensure your transfer is as quick and easy as possible. Both airline and airport staff will be happy to assist with any queries.

Customs and immigration

All international arrivals must pass through immigration. Please proceed to the departure area, ensuring you already have a boarding card and your baggage has been through-checked to your final destination.

Baggage

Your baggage may be through-checked to your final destination, but please confirm this with your airline as not all offer this service.

If your baggage is not through-checked, please collect it from the baggage reclaim hall, then check your bags in as normal for the next leg of your journey.

The check-in area is located only one minute's walk from the baggage reclaim hall.

Boarding cards

You will usually be issued with all necessary boarding cards at your original point of departure. If this is not the case, please contact your airline on arrival.

Connection times

The minimum connection time for Southampton Airport is 60 minutes.

All connecting passengers follow the signs to exit the arrivals hall and once in the main concourse of the terminal proceed back through security to departures (providing you have already checked in and your luggage has been checked through).

If your inward flight is delayed and you are likely to miss your onward flight, please go to your airline's desk on arrival. Your airline representative will be able to advise you of your options.

Getting help at the airport

For all general enquiries, please go to the Airport Help Point or speak to one of our roaming Airport Ambassadors.

Stopover information

Don't forget, there is nowhere to sleep in the airport. If your booking includes a stopover in a local hotel, then simply leave the airport via passport control, baggage reclaim and Customs, then check in as normal ahead of your onward flight.

If you need to find a place to stay, you can book a local hotel with us.
