Arriving at Southampton

Where to go

Once in the terminal, follow the signs for arrivals. If you arrived on an international flight, you’ll need to clear passport control and Customs. Baggage reclaim is between the two.

If you’ve used our Shop & Collect service you’ll pick up your shopping at the collection point in the passenger-only area of arrivals, shortly before you exit to the main concourse.

Passport control
At the passport booth an immigration officer will ask to see your passport and any supporting documents needed for your visit. Please remember, your passport must not expire during your visit to the UK.

Baggage reclaim
You’ll find plenty of baggage trolleys available for your use in the reclaim hall. There may be baggage from more than one flight on the carousel, so please be patient and try not to block access for others.

Customs
If your flight started in the EU, use the blue exit (unless you have items to declare). Otherwise, use the red (goods to declare) or green (nothing to declare) channel. If you're unsure, go to the Customs enquiry point.

In the arrivals hall

Refreshments: If you need to relax (or revive yourself) after your journey, you’ll find food, drink and a place to sit down at the Aura café bar on the main concourse, near the exit from Customs.

Essentials: There’s a branch of WHSmith, where you can stock up on essentials for your onward journey, and Lagenza, selling a range of jewellery (perfect for those last-minute gifts!) and travel accessories.

Travel money: Currency is available from the ICE bureau de change (you can order your currency in advance for airport pick-up or home delivery).

Meeting: There is no official meeting point but if you’re waiting for a flight there are plenty of seats and the Aura café near the Customs exit.

Help: There’s a tourist information point, with leaflets and a touch screen, next to the airport help point.

Getting on your way

Buses to Southampton, car park courtesy buses and taxis call on the terminal forecourt, outside the main exit. If you want to use a taxi, please order it first at the taxi desk in arrivals.

Car hire companies have desks in the dedicated car rental building, across the road from the terminal. For details of rental companies at the airport and to book, visit our car hire page.

The railway station is a short walk from the terminal. Turn left at the main exit and you’re just 99 steps from your rail connection.

For help in planning your onward journey, visit our To and From the Airport pages.

Special assistance

If you’ll need help while you’re at the airport, visit our special assistance information pages.

There is a special assistance desk in the check-in area, next to the airline desks.
