We bettered our noise target for 2007, which was to conclude the noise preferred routeing trials, and publish the outcome. This target was achieved by collating and evaluating the data from the trials, and subsequently presenting the findings and a summary to the Technical Working Group (a sub-group of the airport’s Consultative Committee). Representatives of the TWG (including the airport) then endorsed the findings of the trials to the Consultative Committee, who agreed the routes should be permanent. The Noise Preferred Routes included departures to the north and arrivals from the south.
In 2007, we published a noise strategy, including a number of objectives to help manage noise impacts associated with the airport. Work has focused on the planning of an enhancement to the existing track keeping system, which we are aiming to install during 2008.
