Searching for Santa
Over 100 local children, some of whom have special needs, jetted off from Stansted Airport for a special 'Search for Santa' flight of fantasy in December 2007. Full story.
Getting hooked on fishing
The BAA Communities Trust contributed £2,900 to a 'Hooked on Fishing' project, run by East Herts District Council. This project encourages teenagers, some of whom with a history of behavioural problems, to try fishing in their local area. Run every summer, these courses provide opportunities to many young people who might otherwise not get the chance to try fishing. The money contributed by the Trust went towards training two members in each of three local fishing clubs to become qualified fishing coaches, enabling more teenagers to join in on these over-subscribed courses.
Boxing clever

At the club young people can access advice, support and information on a range of issues from careers advice to sexual health. The BAA Communities Trust contributed £2,000 to the Koinonia Youth Trust, a small, independent charity which runs The Box to help them develop this valuable project.
Helping Stortford Golf Club out of the rough
BAA Stansted stepped in with £3,000 to help save the day for Bishop's Stortford Golf Club when its main sponsors of the PGA Order of Merit event (4 and 5 June 2008), dropped out at the last minute.
Valda Edmund's Stansted's Community Relations Manager, said: "When we heard the golf club had been left in the rough, we were happy to pitch in and help out. It was a great event and our money went a 'fair way' to ensuring the tournament scored highly with everyone that took part."
BAA also entered two teams for the Pro-Am event that took place at the golf club on 6 June 2008.
