Taking film and photography at Heathrow
Filming at busy international airports provides logistical and security challenges which means that whilst we will be accommodating it is sometimes simply not be possible to facilitate non-essential filming and photography requests.
All filming and photography within the airport requires a permit. Generally, a request must be made at least two working days before the required date and security will remove anyone filming and taking photography without this permission.
- News coverage (non-commercial) purposes
Before coming to the airport you must contact our media centre. - Commercial filming/photography
Requests will be charged a service fee unless they are related to a current news issue or involve one of our business partners and takes into account the number of people involved in the shoot and the time required on BAA property. Applicants will need to have (and show proof of) at least £5 million public liability insurance. View commercial filming/photography location fees.
All permits issued are always location-and time-specific. Applicants wishing to film or photograph airline property or staff must first obtain relevant permission. Requests to go airside will require an escort and a temporary pass. Unfortunately, it is not usually possible to allow student filming and photography at Heathrow.
