Health and safety policy

BAA is committed to being a leader in health and safety management. We believe that good performance in health and safety is essential to a profitable business and our aim is to integrate health and safety into every business process. Consistent with this aim, we have integrated health and safety into BAA's overall mission statement. Our mission is to make BAA the most successful airport company in the world. This cannot be achieved unless the following extract of BAA's mission is delivered:

"To give safety and security the highest priority at all times by systematically assessing and managing our safety and security risks through audited, best practice management systems."

Our vision is to eliminate all preventable illnesses, injuries and business losses due to unplanned events on BAA managed premises. Our aim is to be a best-practice organisation in the health and safety field, fully compliant with applicable international, national and local standards in all countries in which BAA operates. Where BAA does not have majority control of a company we will actively encourage the adoption of this policy.

The purpose of the health and safety function is to realise the benefits of proactive, efficient and consistent health and safety management contributing to the success of our business.

We continually seek to further improve our health and safety performance in order to support the business objectives, government initiatives such as 'Revitalising Health and Safety' and to fulfil our obligations as a responsible employer and service provider.
