This area of our website sets out Southampton Airport’s policies in relation to corporate responsibility. It also includes the policies we have developed to manage our environmental impacts, and the way in which we have implemented those policies. Above all, it tells you about our performance: what we said we would do over the last year, what we achieved, and what we are planning to do over the next year and beyond.

Having an airport as a neighbour has both positive and negative consequences for local communities. Southampton Airport provides many benefits to the local region, which can be measured in social and economic terms. Over 1,200 people work at Southampton Airport in a range of jobs and the airport’s economic contribution is over £86 million per year.

We intend to build on our success, and provide further valuable air links to and from this region, offering convenient flights for business, leisure and inbound tourism traffic. As the airport continues to grow, it is estimated that by 2030 around 4,000 people will be employed as a result of airport activities, with the airport contributing around £260 million per year to the local economy.

But we recognise that there can also be negative impacts associated with airports, such as aircraft noise and air quality, and broader issues such as climate change. The airport supports growth in air travel but in a responsible manner with due consideration for our neighbours and the environment in which we all live and work.
