Our targets for 2009
| Environment Category | 2009 Target | 2009 Target Performance |
|---|---|---|
| Air Quality | Target: To reduce Southampton Airport’s impact on CO2 emissions by 5% against the business as usual forecast between January and December 2009, through improvements in energy efficiency. Commentary: A new energy efficient terminal chilling system was installed in 2009, along with new lighting control system in the Short Stay Car Park. | 8.5% Target bettered |
| Noise | Target: Following publication of DEFRA Guidance, to develop and publish a noise action plan to manage noise impacts associated with the Airport and consult local stakeholders on the plan by the end of 2009. Commentary: The Draft Southampton Airport Noise Action Plan was published for consultation on 11 June until 2 October 2009. The revised plan was then submitted to The Secretary of State for Transport in November 2009. | Target achieved |
| Waste | Target: To increase recycling for the general waste handled by the airport waste contract to 35% by 31 December 2009. Commentary: Although the target of 35% was not met, there was an 8% increase on 2008 levels. Key initiatives included; new passenger recycling facilities in the terminal, and new airside waste collection and sorting processes. | 29% Some progress made |
| Surface transport | Target: To deliver infrastructure improvements in support of enhancing the Airports public transport network by the end of 2009.
