Bienvenida to Alicante, the vibrant Valencian city set on miles of glorious sandy beaches. Alicantinos are amongst the friendliest on the Costa, and with its hot summers and mild winters, who can blame them? With only 2h30 hours flying time from Southampton Airport, you can breeze through the terminal and immerse yourself in Alicante’s charms in no time at all.

Sip a cerveza at the lively Marina, explore narrow streets in the old town, or watch the world go by over plates of delectable tapas. Lap up the sun’s rays at one of the great beaches or hire a car and head out to the hills. There’s much to enjoy.

Getting there

Flybe flies direct from Southampton Airport to the main airport Alicante-Elche. Just 9km from the city, the airport is served with a large number of hire car companies to take your pick from.

If you don’t want to drive, buses and the Tren-tram are both plentiful and cheap. The tram runs 365 days a year and its timetable doesn’t change - perfect for weary travellers.

Airport Taxis are a bit more complicated. Read this handy airport guide to fares and remember that you’ll save money if you book before you fly.
