Jobs for the girls at Southampton Airport
03 January 2012
Southampton Airport currently has several vacancies for female Security Officers which need to be filled this month, after being recently inundated with male applicants.
The full-time and part-time roles are based at the airport, working a shift pattern, and require no prior experience. The closing date for applications is the 13th January.
Security Officer, Linda Rogers, commented: "I’ve worked at the airport in various roles since 2003 and this is one of the most interesting jobs I have done. Working shifts suits my life perfectly, as I can travel and shop during the week when it's quieter, and can be there for my family at times when others cannot. It's challenging, but I love interacting with passengers and playing an important role in the safety and security of the airport."
The jobs can be applied for via www.southamptonairport.co.uk/jobs, where there is also a 'day in the life of a security officer' written by Linda, explaining in more details what the job involves and why she likes doing it.
Head of Security Simon Young said, ."We always have far more men than women applying for security roles, but as we have a legal requirement to have female officers searching female passengers, it’s vital to the smooth running of the airport that we have a good balance.
"Full training is given to successful applications and they can expect plenty of variety in the role once they start."
